Waqf Amendment Bill: Union Minister Kiren Rijiju has introduced the Waqf (Amendment) Bill 2025 in the Lok Sabha. It is expected to be discussed for 8 hours. This bill has been strongly opposed by the opposition. Opposition parties say the bill is an attack on the rights of minorities, while the government claims that it will improve Waqf properties.

Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has said that it has been brought to the House only after passing the bill from the cabinet. He said that before the bill was introduced, the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) was sent where everyone’s opinion has been taken. Amit Shah said that we do not make committees like Congress, our committee works democratically.
NDA is strong in Lok Sabha
NDA allies such as JDU, TDP and Chirag Paswan’s Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) have also announced the support of the government. On the other hand, the opposition coalition ‘India’ is ready to strongly oppose this bill. Congress, Samajwadi Party, TMC and other opposition parties have called it an attack against the constitution and the rights of minorities. The position of NDA is strong in the Lok Sabha according to the number, which has 293 MPs, while 272 votes are needed to pass the bill.
