The Waqf Amendment Bill has been introduced in the Lok Sabha. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju introduced the bill in the Lok Sabha for discussion. Speaker Om Birla has fixed 8 hours to discuss the bill. If necessary, Lok Sabha speakers can also increase it. The government is trying to pass the bill from the Lok Sabha today, after which it will be introduced in the Rajya Sabha.
Who got how much time?
- The NDA is given 4 hours 40 minutes.
- Opposition has got the remaining 3 hours 20 minutes.
However, the opposition has sought 12 hours for discussion. On this, Rijiju says that the time of discussion can be extended.
JDU and TDP are supporting the bill
Meanwhile, Chandrababu Naidu’s Telugu Desam Party i.e. TDP and Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal United i.e. JDU have announced to support the bill. Both parties have also issued a whip to all their MPs to be present in the House.
Congress will strongly oppose the bill- Rahul Gandhi
On the other hand, before the bill is introduced, Rahul Gandhi held a meeting with Congress MPs and has said to strongly oppose the bill. Let us tell you that the number game in the Lok Sabha is in favor of the government. In such a situation, it is believed that the bill will be easily passed in the Lok Sabha. There are 293 MPs in support of the Waqf Bill, while there are only 239 MPs in protest which are 33 less than the required figures.
